TO LAB OR NOT TO LAB, THAT IS THE QUESTION

The time has come to shop for THE ring, or maybe you are in the market for a beautiful pair of diamond earrings. Either way, shopping for diamond jewellery is exciting, and now it has gotten a little more affordable too. In this blog I will discuss Lab Grown Diamonds and all the benefits they have to offer.

First, let me start off by saying a lab grown diamond is a diamond.

Optically, chemically, and physically identical to Natures Diamonds.

Lab-Grown Diamonds are not simulants. Scientists create them in a lab. They start with rough crystals of carbon and are grown using either HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) or CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) — sometimes both methods. Both natures diamonds and lab grown diamonds are made of (or from) carbon.

Natural mined diamonds and lab grown diamonds are graded the same way using the same clarity, colour, cut, and carat categories.

One of the biggest differing factors is the time it takes for a mined diamond to form in the earth vs. the time it take to grown a lab diamond (millions of years vs. approximately 6 weeks).

When we source our mined diamonds it is important to us that we only work with diamond mines that are ethical and use ethical business practices.

With lab grown diamonds you know you are getting, not only, an ethical product but also an environmentally friendly product.

What is the price difference you ask?

The average price for a round brilliant cut 1.00 carat mined natural diamond is approximately starting at $7,000.00

The average price for a round brilliant cut 1.00 carat lab grown diamond is approximately $2,900.00

Clearly the lab grown diamond is a huge cost savings!

So, to lab or not to lab?

I think the answer is a no brainer, lab grown diamond is the way to go! Truly there are only positives to choosing a lab grown diamond.
